What is Uses of CNG?

There are various uses of CNG in Pakistan. Primarily, CNG is used for household purposes. CNG is used in heating ovens, water heaters and gas heaters in winters.

The same gas is compressed and used in cars for transport. CNG is much more affordable as compared to Petrol and Diesel. After the introduction of CNG to Pakistan, a lot of people converted to use CNG.

This is because the CNG Prices in Pakistan at the time of introduction were very less and almost everyone could afford to have a CNG tank in their cars.

Pakistan is one of the countries which have a very large number of CNG powered vehicles. Other countries include Iran, Argentina, Brazil and China.

What is Availability of CNG?

Compressed Natural Gas is available in almost all major cities of Pakistan. These cities include:

  • Lahore
  • Islamabad
  • Karachi
  • Peshawar

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has divided the sale of compressed natural gas into two regions: Region I and Region II.

Region I includes:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Balochistan
  • Potohar Region
  • Islamabad
  • Rawalpindi
  • Gujjar Khan

Region II includes:

  • Sindh Region (Karachi, Hyderabad etc)
  • Punjab Region (Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan etc)

Both Regions have different CNG Prices in Pakistan. Region II has a lower price as compared to the Price of Region I. This indicates that there is more CNG demand and usage in Region II, which includes the Sindh and Punjab Region. The price is set per Kilograms
