اِقۡتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الۡقَمَرُ‏ ﴿۱﴾

The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. ﴾1﴿

وَاِنۡ يَّرَوۡا اٰيَةً يُّعۡرِضُوۡا وَيَقُوۡلُوۡا سِحۡرٌ مُّسۡتَمِرٌّ‏ ﴿۲﴾

And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. ﴾2﴿

وَكَذَّبُوۡا وَاتَّبَعُوۡۤا اَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ‌ وَكُلُّ اَمۡرٍ مُّسۡتَقِرٌّ‏ ﴿۳﴾

They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision ﴾3﴿

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَهُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَنۡۢبَآءِ مَا فِيۡهِ مُزۡدَجَرٌۙ‏ ﴿۴﴾

And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, ﴾4﴿

حِكۡمَةٌ  ۢ بَالِغَةٌ‌ فَمَا تُغۡنِ النُّذُرُۙ‏ ﴿۵﴾

Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. ﴾5﴿

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ‌ۘ ÙŠÙŽÙˆÛ¡Ù…ÙŽ يَدۡعُ الدَّاعِ اِلٰى شَىۡءٍ نُّكُرٍۙ‏ ﴿۶﴾

So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. ﴾6﴿

خُشَّعًا اَبۡصَارُهُمۡ يَخۡرُجُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡاَجۡدَاثِ كَاَنَّهُمۡ جَرَادٌ مُّنۡتَشِرٌۙ‏ ﴿۷﴾

With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, ﴾7﴿

مُّهۡطِعِيۡنَ اِلَى الدَّاعِ‌ؕ يَقُوۡلُ الۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ هٰذَا ÙŠÙŽÙˆÛ¡Ù…ÙŒ عَسِرٌ‏ ﴿۸﴾

Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. ﴾8﴿

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحٍ فَكَذَّبُوۡا عَبۡدَنَا وَقَالُوۡا مَجۡنُوۡنٌ وَّازۡدُجِرَ‏ ﴿۹﴾

The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. ﴾9﴿

فَدَعَا رَبَّهٗۤ اَنِّىۡ مَغۡلُوۡبٌ فَانْـتَصِرۡ‏ ﴿۱۰﴾

So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. ﴾10﴿

فَفَتَحۡنَاۤ اَبۡوَابَ السَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنۡهَمِرٍۖ‏ ﴿۱۱﴾

Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water ﴾11﴿

وَّفَجَّرۡنَا الۡاَرۡضَ عُيُوۡنًا فَالۡتَقَى الۡمَآءُ عَلٰٓى اَمۡرٍ قَدۡ قُدِرَ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۱۲﴾

And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. ﴾12﴿

وَحَمَلۡنٰهُ عَلٰى ذَاتِ اَلۡوَاحٍ وَّدُسُرٍۙ‏ ﴿۱۳﴾

And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, ﴾13﴿

تَجۡرِىۡ بِاَعۡيُنِنَا‌ۚ جَزَآءً لِّمَنۡ كَانَ كُفِرَ‏ ﴿۱۴﴾

That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. ﴾14﴿

وَلَقَد تَّرَكۡنٰهَاۤ اٰيَةً فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۱۵﴾

And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾15﴿

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۱۶﴾

Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! ﴾16﴿

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۱۷﴾

And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾17﴿

كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۱۸﴾

(The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. ﴾18﴿

اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيۡحًا صَرۡصَرًا فِىۡ يَوۡمِ نَحۡسٍ مُّسۡتَمِرٍّۙ‏ ﴿۱۹﴾

Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, ﴾19﴿

تَنۡزِعُ النَّاسَۙ كَاَنَّهُمۡ اَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٍ مُّنۡقَعِرٍ‏ ﴿۲۰﴾

Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. ﴾20﴿

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۲۱﴾

Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! ﴾21﴿

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۲۲﴾

And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾22﴿

كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ بِالنُّذُرِ‏ ﴿۲۳﴾

(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings ﴾23﴿

فَقَالُـوۡۤا اَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَاحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهٗۤ  ۙ اِنَّاۤ اِذًا لَّفِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ وَّسُعُرٍ‏ ﴿۲۴﴾

For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. ﴾24﴿

اَءُلۡقِىَ الذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡۢ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ اَشِرٌ‏ ﴿۲۵﴾

Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. ﴾25﴿

سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ غَدًا مَّنِ الۡكَذَّابُ الۡاَشِرُ‏ ﴿۲۶﴾

(Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. ﴾26﴿

اِنَّا مُرۡسِلُوۡا النَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةً لَّهُمۡ فَارۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَاصۡطَبِرۡ‏ ﴿۲۷﴾

Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; ﴾27﴿

وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ اَنَّ الۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةٌ  ۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡ‌ۚ كُلُّ شِرۡبٍ مُّحۡتَضَرٌ‏ ﴿۲۸﴾

And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. ﴾28﴿

فَنَادَوۡا صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطٰى فَعَقَرَ‏ ﴿۲۹﴾

But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). ﴾29﴿

فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۳۰﴾

Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! ﴾30﴿

اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ صَيۡحَةً وَّاحِدَةً فَكَانُوۡا كَهَشِيۡمِ الۡمُحۡتَظِرِ‏ ﴿۳۱﴾

Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. ﴾31﴿

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۳۲﴾

And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾32﴿

كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍ ۢ بِالنُّذُرِ‏ ﴿۳۳﴾

The folk of Lot rejected warnings. ﴾33﴿

اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَاصِبًا اِلَّاۤ اٰلَ لُوۡطٍ‌ؕ نَّجَّيۡنٰهُمۡ بِسَحَرٍۙ‏ ﴿۳۴﴾

Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, ﴾34﴿

نِّعۡمَةً مِّنۡ عِنۡدِنَا‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نَجۡزِىۡ Ù…ÙŽÙ†Û¡ شَكَرَ‏ ﴿۳۵﴾

As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. ﴾35﴿

وَلَقَدۡ اَنۡذَرَهُمۡ بَطۡشَتَـنَا فَتَمَارَوۡا بِالنُّذُرِ‏ ﴿۳۶﴾

And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. ﴾36﴿

وَلَقَدۡ رَاوَدُوۡهُ عَنۡ ضَيۡفِهٖ فَطَمَسۡنَاۤ اَعۡيُنَهُمۡ فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۳۷﴾

They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! ﴾37﴿

وَلَقَدۡ صَبَّحَهُمۡ بُكۡرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسۡتَقِرٌّ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۳۸﴾

And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. ﴾38﴿

فَذُوۡقُوۡا عَذَابِىۡ وَنُذُرِ‏ ﴿۳۹﴾

Now taste My punishment after My warnings! ﴾39﴿

وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا الۡقُرۡاٰنَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۴۰﴾

And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾40﴿

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ اٰلَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ النُّذُرُ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۴۱﴾

And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh ﴾41﴿

كَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَاَخَذۡنٰهُمۡ اَخۡذَ عَزِيۡزٍ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ‏ ﴿۴۲﴾

Who denied Our revelations, every one. Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty, the Powerful. ﴾42﴿

اَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٌ مِّنۡ اُولٰٓٮِٕكُمۡ اَمۡ لَكُمۡ بَرَآءَةٌ فِىۡ الزُّبُرِ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۴۳﴾

Are your disbelievers better than those, or have ye some immunity in the scriptures? ﴾43﴿

اَمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيۡعٌ مُّنۡتَصِرٌ‏ ﴿۴۴﴾

Or say they: We are a host victorious? ﴾44﴿

سَيُهۡزَمُ الۡجَمۡعُ وَيُوَلُّوۡنَ الدُّبُرَ‏ ﴿۴۵﴾

The hosts will all be routed and will turn and flee. ﴾45﴿

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوۡعِدُهُمۡ وَالسَّاعَةُ اَدۡهٰى وَاَمَرُّ‏ ﴿۴۶﴾

Nay, but the Hour (of doom) is their appointed tryst, and the Hour will be more wretched and more bitter (than their earthly failure). ﴾46﴿

اِنَّ الۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَ فِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ وَّسُعُرٍ‌ۘ‏ ﴿۴۷﴾

Lo! the guilty are in error and madness. ﴾47﴿

ÙŠÙŽÙˆÛ¡Ù…ÙŽ يُسۡحَبُوۡنَ فِىۡ النَّارِ عَلٰى وُجُوۡهِهِمۡؕ ذُوۡقُوۡا مَسَّ سَقَرَ‏ ﴿۴۸﴾

On the day when they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces (it is said unto them): Feel the touch of hell. ﴾48﴿

اِنَّا كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ خَلَقۡنٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ‏ ﴿۴۹﴾

Lo! We have created every thing by measure. ﴾49﴿

وَمَاۤ اَمۡرُنَاۤ اِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمۡحٍۢ بِالۡبَصَرِ‏ ﴿۵۰﴾

And Our commandment is but one (commandment), as the twinkling of an eye. ﴾50﴿

وَلَقَدۡ اَهۡلَـكۡنَاۤ اَشۡيَاعَكُمۡ فَهَلۡ مِنۡ مُّدَّكِرٍ‏ ﴿۵۱﴾

And verily We have destroyed your fellows; but is there any that remembereth? ﴾51﴿

وَكُلُّ شَىۡءٍ فَعَلُوۡهُ فِىۡ الزُّبُرِ‏ ﴿۵۲﴾

And every thing they did is in the scriptures, ﴾52﴿

ÙˆÙŽ كُلُّ صَغِيۡرٍ وَّكَبِيۡرٍ مُّسۡتَطَرٌ‏ ﴿۵۳﴾

And every small and great thing is recorded. ﴾53﴿

اِنَّ الۡمُتَّقِيۡنَ فِىۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّنَهَرٍۙ‏ ﴿۵۴﴾

Lo! the righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers, ﴾54﴿

  فِىۡ مَقۡعَدِ صِدۡقٍ عِنۡدَ مَلِيۡكٍ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ‏ ﴿۵۵﴾

Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King. ﴾55﴿
