اِذَا وَقَعَتِ الۡوَاقِعَةُۙ‏ ﴿۱﴾

When the event befalleth - ﴾1﴿

لَيۡسَ لِـوَقۡعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ‌ۘ‏ ﴿۲﴾

There is no denying that it will befall - ﴾2﴿

خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌۙ‏ ﴿۳﴾

Abasing (some), exalting (others); ﴾3﴿

اِذَا رُجَّتِ الۡاَرۡضُ رَجًّاۙ‏ ﴿۴﴾

When the earth is shaken with a shock ﴾4﴿

وَّبُسَّتِ الۡجِبَالُ بَسًّاۙ‏ ﴿۵﴾

And the hills are ground to powder ﴾5﴿

فَكَانَتۡ هَبَآءً مُّنۡۢبَثًّاۙ‏ ﴿۶﴾

So that they become a scattered dust, ﴾6﴿

وَّكُنۡتُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ثَلٰثَةًؕ‏ ﴿۷﴾

And ye will be three kinds: ﴾7﴿

فَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَيۡمَنَةِؕ‏ ﴿۸﴾

(First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? ﴾8﴿

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡمَشۡـَٔـمَةِؕ‏ ﴿۹﴾

And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? ﴾9﴿

وَالسّٰبِقُوۡنَ السّٰبِقُوۡنَۚ ۙ‏ ﴿۱۰﴾

And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: ﴾10﴿

اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الۡمُقَرَّبُوۡنَ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۱۱﴾

Those are they who will be brought nigh ﴾11﴿

فِىۡ جَنّٰتِ النَّعِيۡمِ‏ ﴿۱۲﴾

In gardens of delight; ﴾12﴿

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۱۳﴾

A multitude of those of old ﴾13﴿

وَقَلِيۡلٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۱۴﴾

And a few of those of later time. ﴾14﴿

عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مَّوۡضُوۡنَةٍۙ‏ ﴿۱۵﴾

On lined couches, ﴾15﴿

مُّتَّكِـِٕـيۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقٰبِلِيۡنَ‏ ﴿۱۶﴾

Reclining therein face to face. ﴾16﴿

يَطُوۡفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وِلۡدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۱۷﴾

There wait on them immortal youths ﴾17﴿

بِاَكۡوَابٍ وَّاَبَارِيۡقَ ۙ وَكَاۡسٍ مِّنۡ مَّعِيۡنٍۙ‏ ﴿۱۸﴾

With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring ﴾18﴿

لَّا يُصَدَّعُوۡنَ عَنۡهَا وَلَا يُنۡزِفُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۱۹﴾

Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, ﴾19﴿

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۲۰﴾

And fruit that they prefer ﴾20﴿

وَلَحۡمِ طَيۡرٍ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۲۱﴾

And flesh of fowls that they desire. ﴾21﴿

وَحُوۡرٌ عِيۡنٌۙ‏ ﴿۲۲﴾

And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, ﴾22﴿

كَاَمۡثَالِ اللُّـؤۡلُـوٴِالۡمَكۡنُوۡنِ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۲۳﴾

Like unto hidden pearls, ﴾23﴿

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۲۴﴾

Reward for what they used to do. ﴾24﴿

لَا يَسۡمَعُوۡنَ فِيۡهَا لَغۡوًا وَّلَا تَاۡثِيۡمًاۙ‏ ﴿۲۵﴾

There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination ﴾25﴿

اِلَّا قِيۡلاً سَلٰمًا سَلٰمًا‏ ﴿۲۶﴾

(Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. ﴾26﴿

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ﴿۲۷﴾

And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? ﴾27﴿

فِىۡ سِدۡرٍ مَّخۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏ ﴿۲۸﴾

Among thornless lote-trees ﴾28﴿

وَّطَلۡحٍ مَّنۡضُوۡدٍۙ‏ ﴿۲۹﴾

And clustered plantains, ﴾29﴿

وَظِلٍّ مَّمۡدُوۡدٍۙ‏ ﴿۳۰﴾

And spreading shade, ﴾30﴿

وَّ مَآءٍ مَّسۡكُوۡبٍۙ‏ ﴿۳۱﴾

And water gushing, ﴾31﴿

وَّفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيۡرَةٍۙ‏ ﴿۳۲﴾

And fruit in plenty ﴾32﴿

لَّا مَقۡطُوۡعَةٍ وَّلَا مَمۡنُوۡعَةٍۙ‏ ﴿۳۳﴾

Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, ﴾33﴿

وَّ فُرُشٍ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍؕ‏ ﴿۳۴﴾

And raised couches; ﴾34﴿

اِنَّاۤ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُنَّ اِنۡشَآءًۙ‏ ﴿۳۵﴾

Lo! We have created them a (new) creation ﴾35﴿

فَجَعَلۡنٰهُنَّ اَبۡكَارًاۙ‏ ﴿۳۶﴾

And made them virgins, ﴾36﴿

عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًاۙ‏ ﴿۳۷﴾

Lovers, friends, ﴾37﴿

لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ﴿۳۸﴾

For those on the right hand; ﴾38﴿

ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۳۹﴾

A multitude of those of old ﴾39﴿

وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۴۰﴾

And a multitude of those of later time. ﴾40﴿

وَاَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِ ۙ مَاۤ اَصۡحٰبُ الشِّمَالِؕ‏ ﴿۴۱﴾

And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? ﴾41﴿

فِىۡ سَمُوۡمٍ وَّحَمِيۡمٍۙ‏ ﴿۴۲﴾

In scorching wind and scalding water ﴾42﴿

وَّظِلٍّ مِّنۡ يَّحۡمُوۡمٍۙ‏ ﴿۴۳﴾

And shadow of black smoke, ﴾43﴿

لَّا بَارِدٍ وَّلَا كَرِيۡمٍ‏ ﴿۴۴﴾

Neither cool nor refreshing. ﴾44﴿

اِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا قَبۡلَ ذٰلِكَ مُتۡرَفِيۡنَۚ ۖ‏ ﴿۴۵﴾

Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury ﴾45﴿

وَكَانُوۡا يُصِرُّوۡنَ عَلَى الۡحِنۡثِ الۡعَظِيۡمِ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۴۶﴾

And used to persist in the awful sin. ﴾46﴿

وَكَانُوۡا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ۙ اَٮِٕذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَّعِظَامًا ءَاِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۴۷﴾

And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, ﴾47﴿

اَوَاٰبَآؤُنَا الۡاَوَّلُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۴۸﴾

And also our forefathers? ﴾48﴿

قُلۡ اِنَّ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ وَالۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۴۹﴾

Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time ﴾49﴿

لَمَجۡمُوۡعُوۡنَ ۙ اِلٰى مِيۡقَاتِ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍ‏ ﴿۵۰﴾

Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. ﴾50﴿

ثُمَّ اِنَّكُمۡ اَيُّهَا الضَّآلُّوۡنَ الۡمُكَذِّبُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۵۱﴾

Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, ﴾51﴿

لَاٰكِلُوۡنَ مِنۡ شَجَرٍ مِّنۡ زَقُّوۡمٍۙ‏ ﴿۵۲﴾

Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum ﴾52﴿

فَمٰلِــُٔوۡنَ مِنۡهَا الۡبُطُوۡنَ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۵۳﴾

And will fill your bellies therewith; ﴾53﴿

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ الۡحَمِيۡمِ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۵۴﴾

And thereon ye will drink of boiling water, ﴾54﴿

فَشٰرِبُوۡنَ شُرۡبَ الۡهِيۡمِؕ‏ ﴿۵۵﴾

Drinking even as the camel drinketh. ﴾55﴿

هٰذَا نُزُلُهُمۡ ÙŠÙŽÙˆÛ¡Ù…ÙŽ الدِّيۡنِؕ‏ ﴿۵۶﴾

This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. ﴾56﴿

نَحۡنُ خَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ فَلَوۡلَا تُصَدِّقُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۵۷﴾

We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? ﴾57﴿

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تُمۡنُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۵۸﴾

Have ye seen that which ye emit? ﴾58﴿

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَخۡلُقُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡخَـالِقُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۵۹﴾

Do ye create it or are We the Creator? ﴾59﴿

نَحۡنُ قَدَّرۡنَا بَيۡنَكُمُ الۡمَوۡتَ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَسۡبُوۡقِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۶۰﴾

We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, ﴾60﴿

عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّبَدِّلَ اَمۡثَالَكُمۡ وَنُـنۡشِئَكُمۡ فِىۡ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۱﴾

That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. ﴾61﴿

وَلَـقَدۡ عَلِمۡتُمُ النَّشۡاَةَ الۡاُوۡلٰى فَلَوۡلَا تَذَكَّرُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۲﴾

And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? ﴾62﴿

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا تَحۡرُثُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۶۳﴾

Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? ﴾63﴿

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ تَزۡرَعُوۡنَهٗۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الزَّارِعُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۴﴾

Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? ﴾64﴿

Ù„ÙŽÙˆÛ¡ نَشَآءُ لَجَـعَلۡنٰهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلۡتُمۡ تَفَكَّهُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۵﴾

If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: ﴾65﴿

اِنَّا لَمُغۡرَمُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۶۶﴾

Lo! we are laden with debt! ﴾66﴿

بَلۡ نَحۡنُ مَحۡرُوۡمُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۷﴾

Nay, but we are deprived! ﴾67﴿

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ الۡمَآءَ الَّذِىۡ تَشۡرَبُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۶۸﴾

Have ye observed the water which ye drink? ﴾68﴿

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡزَلۡتُمُوۡهُ مِنَ الۡمُزۡنِ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡزِلُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۶۹﴾

Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? ﴾69﴿

Ù„ÙŽÙˆÛ¡ نَشَآءُ جَعَلۡنٰهُ اُجَاجًا فَلَوۡلَا تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۷۰﴾

If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks? ﴾70﴿

اَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِىۡ تُوۡرُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۷۱﴾

Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; ﴾71﴿

ءَاَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡشَاۡتُمۡ شَجَرَتَهَاۤ اَمۡ نَحۡنُ الۡمُنۡشِـُٔـوۡنَ‏ ﴿۷۲﴾

Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? ﴾72﴿

نَحۡنُ جَعَلۡنٰهَا تَذۡكِرَةً وَّمَتَاعًا لِّلۡمُقۡوِيۡنَ‌ۚ‏ ﴿۷۳﴾

We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. ﴾73﴿

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ‏ ﴿۷۴﴾

Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. ﴾74﴿

فَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِمَوٰقِعِ النُّجُوۡمِۙ‏‏ ﴿۷۵﴾

Nay, I swear by the places of the stars - ﴾75﴿

وَاِنَّهٗ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ عَظِيۡمٌۙ‏ ﴿۷۶﴾

And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew - ﴾76﴿

اِنَّهٗ لَـقُرۡاٰنٌ كَرِيۡمٌۙ‏ ﴿۷۷﴾

That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an ﴾77﴿

فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ مَّكۡنُوۡنٍۙ‏ ﴿۷۸﴾

In a Book kept hidden ﴾78﴿

لَّا يَمَسُّهٗۤ اِلَّا الۡمُطَهَّرُوۡنَؕ‏ ﴿۷۹﴾

Which none toucheth save the purified, ﴾79﴿

تَنۡزِيۡلٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏ ﴿۸۰﴾

A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. ﴾80﴿

اَفَبِهٰذَا الۡحَـدِيۡثِ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّدۡهِنُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۸۱﴾

Is it this Statement that ye scorn, ﴾81﴿

وَتَجۡعَلُوۡنَ رِزۡقَكُمۡ اَنَّكُمۡ تُكَذِّبُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۸۲﴾

And make denial thereof your livelihood? ﴾82﴿

فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ الۡحُـلۡقُوۡمَۙ‏ ﴿۸۳﴾

Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying) ﴾83﴿

وَاَنۡتُمۡ حِيۡنَٮِٕذٍ تَـنۡظُرُوۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۸۴﴾

And ye are at that moment looking ﴾84﴿

وَنَحۡنُ اَقۡرَبُ اِلَيۡهِ مِنۡكُمۡ وَلٰـكِنۡ لَّا تُبۡصِرُوۡنَ‏ ﴿۸۵﴾

- And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not - ﴾85﴿

فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ غَيۡرَ مَدِيۡنِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۸۶﴾

Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us), ﴾86﴿

تَرۡجِعُوۡنَهَاۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ صٰدِقِيۡنَ‏ ﴿۸۷﴾

Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful? ﴾87﴿

فَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۸۸﴾

Thus if he is of those brought nigh, ﴾88﴿

فَرَوۡحٌ وَّ رَيۡحَانٌ ۙ وَّجَنَّتُ نَعِيۡمٍ‏ ﴿۸۹﴾

Then breath of life, and plenty, and a Garden of delight. ﴾89﴿

وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِۙ‏ ﴿۹۰﴾

And if he is of those on the right hand, ﴾90﴿

فَسَلٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنۡ اَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ‏ ﴿۹۱﴾

Then (the greeting) "Peace be unto thee" from those on the right hand. ﴾91﴿

وَاَمَّاۤ اِنۡ كَانَ مِنَ الۡمُكَذِّبِيۡنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَۙ‏ ﴿۹۲﴾

But if he is of the rejecters, the erring, ﴾92﴿

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنۡ حَمِيۡمٍۙ‏ ﴿۹۳﴾

Then the welcome will be boiling water ﴾93﴿

وَّتَصۡلِيَةُ جَحِيۡمٍ‏ ﴿۹۴﴾

And roasting at hell-fire. ﴾94﴿

اِنَّ هٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الۡيَـقِيۡنِۚ‏ ﴿۹۵﴾

Lo! this is certain truth. ﴾95﴿

فَسَبِّحۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الۡعَظِيۡمِ‏ ﴿۹۶﴾

Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. ﴾96﴿
