sham thi aur barg-o-gul shal the magar saba bhi thi
ek ajib sukut tha ek ajab sada bhi thi
ek malal ka sa haal mahw tha apne haal mein
raqs-o-nawa the be-taraf mahfil-e-shab bapa bhi thi
sama-e-sada-e-jaan be-sarokar tha ki tha
ek guman ki dastan bar-lab nim-wa bhi thi
kya mah-o-sal majra ek palak thi jo miyan
baat ki ibtida bhi thi baat ki intiha bhi thi
ek surud-e-raushani nima-e-shab ka KHwab tha
ek KHamosh tirgi saneha-ashna bhi thi
dil tera pesha-e-gila-e-kaam KHarab kar gaya
warna to ek ranj ki haalat-be-gila bhi thi
dil ke muamle jo the un mein se ek ye bhi hai
ek hawas thi dil mein jo dil se gurez-pa bhi thi
baal-o-par-e-KHayal ko ab nahin samt-o-su nasib
pahle thi ek ajab faza aur jo pur-faza bhi thi
KHushk hai chashma-sar-e-jaan zard hai sabza-zar-e-dil
ab to ye sochiye ki yan pahle kabhi hawa bhi thi
